| Health Management through Yoga |
| (1 day or weekend) |
All of us who have practised Yoga more than occasionally know that yoga is inherently therapeutic. Yoga is a wonderful therapy that is complementary to most other forms of therapy.
During the workshop we will examine
- the causes of disease
- Yogic detoxification - we will study and experience the cleansing of the body with salted water by various methods
- clearing blocked prana using postures, relaxation and meditation techniques
- meditations specific to pranic flow, strengthening, healing of injured tissue and clearing away the toxins
- expression of feelings
We will also use the healing Mahamrityunjaya mantra for the relief from suffering of ourselves and others.
Yoga is truly holistic in its approach to disease, treating body, mind and spirit. You don't need to be sick to qualify to come for the day! Prevention is better than cure. And Yoga teachers should come to an In-Service training day to get a new perspective on your practices and more understanding of how to advise your students.

This booklet gives further details of the information presented in the workshop.
The relationship between digestion and disease is expanded upon and a clear diagram shows how intestinal health affects each part of the body.
The cleansing practices for the nose, stomach and intestines are clearly explained along with limitations and precautions.
Extracts from the Book
"When using Yoga as a therapy we need to look beyond the symptoms of disease for the basic underlying cause. This truly wholistic approach treats each person differently, not just the disease.
"When we apply the right techniques in our day to day life we begin to experience a higher level of energy and vitality that results from not suppressing symptoms but working with nature to allow the body to heal itself....
"Toxins play a significant role in many diseases and can be cleansed from the body using the shatkarmas (cleansing practices) - a system of gentle and effective practices that are easy to use at home. They stimulate the eliminatory organs to get rid of the toxins.
"It's only in more recent years that I've come to recognise how many toxins are created within our own bodies. We tend to spend time and energy avoiding toxins from our environment like pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals and so on, but the trouble they cause pales into insignificance compared to the toxins produced by bacteria (flora) living in our own bowels! A healthy balance of gut flora is essential to good health and can be assisted by regular cleansing of the gut through these cleansing practices....
"Remember, your healing is only limited by your imagination and beliefs."
